Sadie & Summerstar Tourist Parks
Hôtels

In seven weeks, Summerstar took Sadie from 3 pilot parks to all 17 — and across July and August, Sadie answered 6,046 guest calls, handled 67.5% of them without requiring assistance from park staff, and turned more than 600 booking offers into nearly 400 confirmed reservations in RMS.

About Summerstar
Summerstar Tourist Parks is a family-owned and operated group of 17 caravan, holiday and tourist parks across coastal and inland Western Australia and South Australia. What started with a single park bought by John and Dani Layman in Esperance in 1996 is now the largest family-owned park group in WA, run today by their daughter Sarah and her husband James.
Guests can choose from self-catered units to ensuite, powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites — most locations pet-friendly — because, as the team puts it, “customer service is our jam.” Across all 17 parks, the goal is the same: make guests feel like part of the family, and create “moments to cherish.”
The Challenge
Running 17 parks across two states means most Summerstar front desks are a one- or two-person operation. Guests call throughout the day — to check availability, ask about pet policies, or confirm a booking — and a lean team can't always be in two places at once.
Before Sadie
Calls missed during peak check-in and check-out windows
Limited capacity when the office was busy or unattended
Enquiries lost to voicemail — or to a park up the road that picked up
Staff stretched between the phone and everything else
The Solution
Sadie went live first at three pilot parks — Eighty Mile Beach, Jurien Bay and Riverview — connected directly into RMS, the system all 17 Summerstar parks already run their reservations on. From day one, Sadie could check live rates and availability and create bookings on the spot, with nothing to bolt on and no separate system to reconcile afterwards.
Crucially, Sadie was set up to work alongside Summerstar’s park teams, answering guest calls and completing reservations directly in RMS. Both sides describe the rollout as collaborative, and within seven weeks Summerstar expanded Sadie to all 17 parks.
“Working with Sadie has been a pleasure — the smoothest tech rollout to date. The speed, synergy and collaboration made the process really smooth.”
— Sarah Buchanan, Operations Manager, Summerstar Tourist Parks
After Sadie
Every call answered, at every park
67.5% of calls handled end-to-end by Sadie, without requiring assistance from park staff
Park teams freed to focus on the guests already on site
Reservations booked straight into RMS — no manual entry, no re-keying
Results So Far (July – August 2026)
The impact was immediate, and it scaled with the rollout. Across two months, the phone quietly became a measurable, always-on channel for every park in the network.
6,046 guest calls answered — not one missed
67.5% of calls handled entirely by Sadie, without requiring assistance from park staff
603 booking offers sent, resulting in 398 confirmed bookings — a 66% offer-to-booking conversion rate
139 staff hours freed up for guests already on site
For a 17-park, two-state network, that is nearly three and a half full-time workweeks of call handling absorbed in just two months — without adding headcount.
